the halloween costume

I originally didn't want to spend much for my halloween costume (I'm still thinking of my trip for next year). I could have just used my pirate/gypsy costume from my senior photo. Eventually, after talking to Veronica, a co-worker who also listens to kpop, I suddenly got the idea of dressing up as a soldier inspired by SNSD's Genie. Veronica wanted to do it so I had to ask first if she was going to continue with the idea. But eventually she gave me the go so :) Yey, soldier girl.

I really wanted the white officer military costume of SNSD (Genie). Reminds me of my lolo too. But, it's impossible for me to find a costume which is exact to the original in just three weeks (even less). So I kept looking at their other videos and found this.

The costumes they used here were easier to find! So, I decided to be Yoona, the girl at the beginning with the grey military vest and blue garrison cap! Although I wanted Jessica's too with the oversized army shirt and red garrison cap.

Almost all pieces were from Forever21 - the grey denim zippered vest, the blue and white striped button down shirt (didn't want to wear sleeveless that night, it's cold in the store) and the pair of white shorts which I found at clearance! I have my own black tights (bec. if we're wearing short shorts, we have to cover our legs, it's store policy), and my black boots (bec. I won't survive working, walking from one side of the store to the next carrying clothes while wearing pumps haha).

The trickier part of the outfit was the garrison cap! I had to research and inquire about the caps and patches at ebay. I didn't want to buy the usual "captain's/officer's hat". Eventually, after a few nights of searching, I found the least expensive cap, the most appropriate patch (that would fit the cap) and a pin to accesorize. Also bought white ribbon from Michael's for the lining. Yes, I've decided to be girl from the air force.

The garrison cap project :p

2nd picture, top right, is a patch of the US Air Forces during ww2 and the third is a pilot wings pin. :)

Here's the final look.

I loved dancing to Genie while wearing my costume. HAHAHA. Sowaeneul Malhaebwa!
