Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics

Like the Beijing Olympics, I'm also religiously following the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. I keep the TV listings and event results/schedules on one tab of Firefox everytime I'm in front of my computer.

I was uninterested at first but after watching the opening ceremonies and few of the short track games, I kinda got hooked! Short Track is my favorite sport to watch and I have a huge bias for the Korean athletes haha. Then Apollo Ohno and Jr Celski (who's part Filipino) for Team USA. Biathlon I think is cool even if I don't really understand the mechanics. But I love how shooting targets is incorporated into skiing. Snowboarding Halfpipe was scary to watch! It was amazing but it was also hard not to imagine who's going to fall or hit his/her head. I have a huge respect for the ladies of the sport.

Curling though is one sport I can't understand. It's like Billiards on ice! haha. I'm still waiting for the women's skating events - go Kim Yuna! :) I've just realized too that Ice Dancing is a completely different even from Pairs Figure Skating! Nyahaha.

I think I should convince the family to take a vacation to Tahoe so I can try snowboarding, ya? :p

One thing I enjoy about olympics are the commercials by the sponsors. They would always incorporate strength/determination in their ads. I have a few favorites!

Coke Limited Cans :)I love how you see the red and white you already know it's Coca-Cola. It's obvious but not screaming obvious? Ahaha I can't explain it. Love the use of sounds.

Visa commercials can never go wrong (well in my opinion). This is the same format they did for Beijing, but using blue instead of Gold. Morgan Freeman and heartwarming story = perfect Olympics Visa commercial :)

This commercial makes me want to visit Canada for sure!

But there are also commercials that are bleh... like this one commercial with Lindsay Jakkobelis for a cold medicine I think. AT&T's commercial where this girl is snowboarding into space (I don't see the connection much with AT&T even if the visuals+sounds were good) and this commercial with Apollo Ohno, uhm I can't remember if it was a bath product or some medicine - basically he opened his pjs I think to reveal his skating uniform.
